Our nation finds itself at a moment of disharmony and division. Far too many people believe they have not been heard by those in power. Earlier this evening, our presidents met with the Amarillo Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and other local pastors in order to develop a coordinated response to the troubling events in our nation. We irrefutably condemn the police brutality which resulted in the tragic loss of Mr. George Floyd, and we similarly condemn any violence perpetuated by any human being anywhere. Therefore, in order to remind Amarillo citizens their voices are heard and to begin finding meaningful ways to address the issues pertinent to our community, the Amarillo Branch NAACP (6151) intends to collaboratively host a peaceful community rally, voter registration, and census drive on Saturday, June 6, 2020 @ 11:00 AM at Bones Hooks Park.We will share more details with you all later.
“The North Heights Advisory Association invites you to a virtual memorial for our brother George Floyd. It will be Monday, June 1, 2020 beginning at 9:15 PM and will only run about 15 minutes…please share this flyer so that we may celebrate him together and demand the justice that he deserves…” – Melodie Graves, North Heights Advisory Council
