History Making Meeting At AISD

Board members of Amarillo ISD

Robin. Malone made history May 23rd.

“[Malone] made AISD Board of Trustee history as Malone is the first black woman to serve as president” – Amarillo Globe News

And in their first meeting as the incoming board, new members Kimberly Anderson, Alonzo Everhart and Dick Ford joined returning members Robin Malone, Renee McCown and John Blanchard, voting unanimously to rename Lee Elementary according to the newly adopted school naming policy. This policy requires schools to be named for an adjacent street, the housing development, or an important historical figure specifically relevant to Amarillo.

Congratulations to Ms Malone on her new responsibilities and to the AISD Board for choosing setting a positive example for our children and our community in their very first meeting.
